About the Editor

Referee is the premier magazine for sports officiating. It began publication in 1976 and is recognized as the leading authority and voice for officials at all levels of sports. The publisher of Referee, Barry Mano was the driving force in the founding of the National Association of Sports Officials (NASO) and is a leading spokesperson for officials throughout the country. Referee is headquartered in Racine, Wisconsin.

Jerry Grunska serves as editor of Successful Sports Officiating and has over forty years of officiating experience at the high school and college levels. He has coauthored several books on officiating, including The Officials Guide: Football, Take Charge Football Officiating, and Better Football Officiating. He also frequently writes articles for Referee. In addition to Grunska, the following experts in the field of officiating contributed to Successful Sports Officiating: George Selleck, Kay Roof-Steffen, Bill Topp, Mel Narol, Henry Zaborniak, John Poole, Kathleen Poole, and Doug Toole.
