Racquetball: Steps to Success Racquetball: Steps to Success
About the Product
Most sport technique books dwell on teaching players all the skills before letting them play the game. With Racquetball: Steps to Success, students will develop racquetball skills and game strategies by getting into playing situations from the very start!
Written by master teacher and player Stan Kittleson, this beginning-level racquetball book is part of the Steps to Success Activity Series--the most extensively researched and carefully developed set of sport skill instruction books ever published.
What makes this series so unique is the step-by-step progression of skills that are taught in combination. Through this unique progression, students will learn:
• basic individual offensive and defensive racquetball skills,
• important strategies to help them become competitive players,
• how to rate their own progress as they learn the game of racquetball, and
• how to improve their skills.
Each of the 18 steps students will take is an easy transition from the one before. The first steps provide a solid foundation of basic skills and concepts. As students progress, they’ll learn how to make the right moves in game situations. And as they approach the top of the climb to success, they’ll gain confidence in their racquetball ability and experience the satisfaction of becoming an accomplished player. Each step:
• explains why the concept or skill is important,
• identifies the keys to correct technique,
• helps students correct common errors,
• explains how to practice each skill in realistic ways,
• lists specific performance goals for each drill,
• gives students a summary checklist for evaluating proper technique, and
• lets students proceed at their own pace.
As students climb the 18 steps on their way to racquetball success, they’ll benefit from:
• superb illustrations that depict correct body positioning for learning all basic skills in racquetball,
• excellent drills to help quickly master the proper stroke to match various racquetball needs--whether they want to improve their quickness, develop power, practice deception, or just have fun.
• checklists for evaluating proper technique, and
• suggestions for error detection and correction.
Designed to be action-oriented, Racquetball: Steps to Success will help students get started, make steady progress, practice in performance contexts, and correct problems as they develop. The result--successful racquetball players who will enjoy the game for the rest of their lives.
