Outdoor Recreation: Creating Quality Programs provides instructors and administrators of outdoor-recreation activities with an overview of a practical process that is designed to help simplify the task of program and curriculum development. Through a step-by-step progression, the concepts and considerations of effective and meaningful course design are explored. The developmental process featured in the DVD is appropriate for all outdoor-recreation settings and activities. Among the topics covered: assessment of skills and abilities, specific considerations for different clientele, inventory of resources, development of ideas and goals, safety assessment and risk management, course planning, customer service, instructor flexibility, course closure and evaluation, and implementing improvements. Produced in cooperation with the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM).
