The Ossur's (formerly known as Royce Medical) AFO Leaf Spring Support is a low profile, polypropylene ankle foot orthoses with a new low profile, energy return design that is more flexible than traditional models. This Ossur AFO product features a more rigid vertical aspect in the rear for good lifting capacity, along with a thinner, more flexible foot section for easy trimming at home. The foot section can be trimmed to the desired shape and size with a pair of scissors and there is no need to heat or trim plastic around the ankle malleoli which get irritated with daily use. Lightweight polypropylene and the absence of a heel section makes this AFO Leaf Spring more comfortable to wear, and provides a excellent fit inside any men's or women's shoes.
The traditional AFO has been taken and redesigned for a lightweight product that is designed specifically for maximizing energy all at an affordable price.

Indications:

Drop Foot secondary to:
* Drop foot secondary to Cerebral Vascular Accident (CVA).
* Mild drop foot secondary to other neurological pathologies.

AFO Sizes: Available in two sizes: Choose between 10 1/3" and 12" height and choose left or right.

The 10 3/4" Leaf Spring is contoured at the heel and calf for smaller individuals, and the foot length plate is shorter. The length of the plastic foot plate is 9 1/2".
The widest part of the heel opening is 2 1/2". The widest part of the calf band opening is 3 3/4". The widest part of the sole is 3". It is 10 3/4" tall.

"Generally" people 5'8" and shorter should choose the 10 3/4" model; 5'9" and taller (or people with a larger build) should choose the 12" model.

NOTE: The foot plate is trimmable, but the product can not be returned once it has been trimmed.
