The Ossur's (formerly known as Royal Medical) AFO Dynamic Support is a truly unique ankle foot orthoses that combines Flex-Foot energy-return technology, and light-weight carbon fiber for real locomotion assistance and a confident, more natural walking motion.
This AFO Dynamic Support uses a medial strut to absorb each individual's own body weight and return the captured energy to assist in walking easier. This results in a more efficient walking motion and reduction of hip hiking associated limited toe clearance. The AFO Dynamic Support is a low profile model and is more comfortable to wear on an everyday basis than more limited, models made of plastic materials.
The foot platform is designed to fit inside both men's and women's shoes and works for 95% of individuals within each of the three size categories listed below. The calf portion has a hook and loop strap attachment for easy fitting adjustments.
The AFO Dynamic Support is designed to provide superb energy return/dorsiflexion assist in an off-the-shelf design.

* This AFO Dynamic Support is made of pre-impregnated carbon fiber which provides dynamic motion and energy return (assisted propulsion of the limb at toe off).

* Unique footplate design has a stiffness gradient at the heel and toe. The response becomes stiffer when extra support is needed with a heavy individual, and less stiff when used by a smaller, less heavy person.
* Gait assistance - Receives gradual plantar flexion at initial contact when taking a step, and provides medial-lateral stability at mid-stance as the person progresses their body weight over the foot.
* Supports the foot for ground-clearance during swing phase.
* Medial strut and dark color makes it less visible.
* Textile cover on outside of the AFO Dynamic and inside aspect of the footplate provides a pleasant cosmetic appearance and enhances comfort against the skin.

* MS (Multiple Sclerosis)
* Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease
* Peroneal Muscular Atrophy (PMA)
