Games Approach to Coaching Tennis Games Approach to Coaching Tennis
About the Product
Games Approach to Coaching Tennis is the newest addition to the American Sport Education Program’s (ASEP) Games Approach to Coaching Sport video series.
The Games Approach to Coaching Tennis video presents a more in-depth look at the games approach to coaching, which is discussed in the Coaching Youth Tennis
book. This revolutionary coaching technique emphasizes learning through
play, and it helps coaches create an even more successful tennis
experience for their players. Detailed demonstrations of 14 games will
help you teach essential tennis tactics for singles and doubles play at
the beginning adult and youth levels.
In addition to learning the games, coaches and instructors can learn how to
- modify games to focus on particular skills and tactics;
- adjust the difficulty depending on athletes’ needs;
- assess players as they play;
- actively involve players in the learning process; and
- teach and refine tennis skills and strategies.
Developed in conjunction with the USTA and used in the USA 1,2,3 Instructional Skills Program and USA Team Tennis, the Games Approach to Coaching Tennis video shows you how to teach tennis tactics more effectively than the traditional “drills first, play later” approach.
In the games approach, players participate in modified games rather
than repetitive drills. As they play, they learn the tactics and
understand how to apply them in a game situation. Players have fun and
are motivated to practice in these small-sided games. The Games Approach to Coaching Tennis
video helps coaches and instructors discover a great way to coach
tennis skills and tactics, and it provides a fun and rewarding
experience for their players. About the Author
