As the industry continues to expand, evolve, and redefine itself, yoga is increasingly recognized as a viable component of fitness. The intent of this book is to educate and give guidance to fitness professionals who wish to teach yoga. Topics covered include: Introduction to fitness yoga, teaching a yoga class (equipment, environment, music, personal limitations, modifications, and exercise leadership), basic asana repertoire (standing poses, balancing posture, seated poses, prone poses, supine poses, inverted pose, sun salutation, and power yoga), breath awareness, programming (frequency of practice, components, safety rules, injury prevention, contraindications/high-risk poses, intensity monitoring and controversial poses), and yoga teacher standards and certifications.
