The hand drum allows children to express their emotions in a way that is fun and entertaining, all the while learning to express their creative spirit in an atmosphere of support, encouragement, and play. Drumming and Wellness for Children presents an overview of the key aspects involved in designing and implementing a drumming program for children. Among the topics covered: why children are drawn to the drum, games for inspiring children to drum, process- vs. performance-based playing, how to use the drum with autistic children, children with addiction-related issues, and children with emotional issues, and the power of affirmations and rhythm to build self-esteem.
